CFD vs TCFD, What's the difference? Similar in spelling, structure and impact, the newly introduced Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (CFD) closely mirrors the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).

They both require companies to disclose their approach to climate change within the realm of corporate governance.

What distinguishes CFD from its counterpart, is its mandatory nature. Unlike TCFD, which operates on a 'comply or explain' basis, CFD demands a full response to all its requirements. The CFD also captures a lot more businesses within its scope, mandating reporting from companies that were not obligated to report under TCFD.
